Angel's disco is open seven nights a week, from 9 p.m. till "late" (usually between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Don't ask me why they don't have a fixed time to close). There is no cover charge to enter the disco; you will be required to order a drink if you hang out (a soft drink will run you about 100 baht or $2.50). Most of the hookers that go there dress up pretty fancy, so here I would recommend you wear a nice shirt, long pants (jeans are fine) and nice shoes. However, you can get in with a pair of tennis shoes, shorts and a nice T-shirt. I did.

There is a pattern to picking up girls in Bangkok. Usually, most tourists start out around 8 p.m. or so at the Nana
Entertainment Plaza. After a few hours of bar hopping and drinking, by around midnight everyone starts hitting the disco Angels at the Nana. By 2 a.m. or closing time, the crowd then makes their way over the Thermae, the last chance bar, so to speak. So, between Nana (or Soi Cowboy or Patpong if you prefer), then Angels, then Thermae, you are bound to find a girl to get laid with. If it's 5 a.m. and you have not yet found someone who will suck your dick in Bangkok, you are either too drunk to walk, gay, or one of those Buddhist monks who thinks touching women will turn you into stone.
LADY-BOYS
Unfortunately, in many of the bars you will come across those obnoxious
katoys or what the Thais like to call lady-boys. A lady-boy is a transvestite or a transsexual. What's the difference? The transvestite is a man with a penis who wears woman's clothing, grows his hair long and wears make-up. A transsexual is a man who has actually undergone surgery and had his penis cut off and remodeled into a vagina. He also has had breast implants and may have had plastic surgery to make his face look more feminine. Scary thought. Thermae does not allow lady-boys to enter their bar. That's why you will see them outside on the street corners, often in the dark corners of the street where they are not so easily recognized as men. Many of the lady-boys have infiltrated the Go Go bars in Patpong and even in Nana (the Casanova bar in Nana Plaza is nothing but lady-boys). I |
