so many tourists treat them to expensive meals in four and five star hotels), happy (because many tourists take them shopping and nothing makes a woman happier than going shopping), independently wealthy (because most tourists throw a bundle of money at the girls face), and quite vibrant (because of all the attention and affection they receive from all the tourists worldwide). In short, the high class prostitute often leads a very exciting and successful life. Opposite the grim portrait one would get from the highly biased mainstream media on such a subject.
With little exception, most tourists who vacation in Thailand end up frequenting only the red light districts that are comprised solely of high class prostitutes. All the major red light districts in Bangkok that cater to tourists, such as Patpong, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza, Thermae Coffee House, Atami massage parlor, etc., would fall under this category. Only on rare occasion would a tourist who has a friend living in Thailand or a Thai guide get taken to a brothel in the outskirts where "no tourist
has gone before". Such a brothel would be where the low class prostitutes make their living. Most tourists don't and won't go to these types of places because they are so run down and filthy, nobody would want to.
I once had sex with a low class prostitute in a brothel in northern Thailand. The room where I had sex had no air conditioning, no toilet, no shower, a cardboard box flattened out to act like a bed, no bed sheets, no tissue or towels, cockroaches and mice running freely, etc. The girl herself was cute and pleasant, but did not speak a word of English and looked at me like I was a Martian from outer space. It was not a fun experience, to say the least. I would not go back.

Now, with all this in mind, I want to make a two statements at the outset of this discussion:
1. In the red light districts where tourists and high class prostitutes merge, child prostitution is either non existent or rarely found. (If there are any child prostitutes, they will be boys catering to homosexuals).
2. In the brothels where low class prostitutes cater to local Thai men, child
prostitution may or may not exist, but it has no association with tourism.
Most TV specials and news articles that report on child prostitution in Thailand attempt to tie together sex tourism and child prostitution. Why? To make it look like male tourists who party in Thailand
