Thai police and Thai Tourist police on patrol. Now, they certainly can't be so blind as to recognize the fact that the girls working the bars are working as prostitutes.

Same applies to the police who hang at the discos and all the tourist hotels, such as the Crown and Nana. There you will see girls coming and going from the hotel rooms, the same girls working the bars. Even the blind can see what is happening and the Thai police are not so naive as to fail to see what is going on right in front of their eyes. Yes, gents, the Thai police are well aware of what is happening and rather than stop it, they protect it. Indeed, the Thai police who you will see at the red light districts where tourists go are there, not to stop it, but to make sure everything in running smooth and the tourists are having a good time. How I wish such was the case in the states where one can get arrested for just talking about the price to get laid.

So how many prostitutes are there in the country of Thailand? Lots! It's been estimated that, get this, 10% of the entire population (67 million) of Thai girls between the ages of 14 to 24 are involved in prostitution. Here's what one book had to say:

"Conventional estimates of the number of masseuses and prostitutes in.. Bangkok start at around 100, 000. Most estimates cluster around 200, 000. The total number of masseuses, prostitutes and girls in `special services' in the whole country is not known. But it is

probably around 500, 000 at present, or about 10 % of the girls in the age group 14-24. The Police Department gave a total figure of just over 400,000 in 1964... in Bangkok alone... there are 119 massage parlors, 119 barbershop massage and tea-houses, 97 night clubs, 248 disguised whore houses and 394 discos ...all of which provide similar services for male customers. "

Now to give you an idea or how enormous the red light districts are, check this out. In Bangkok alone, I counted 44 bars in Patpong, 31 bars at the Nana Entertainment Plaza, and 30 bars at Soi Cowboy. (These are the three main red light districts where tourists and prostitutes merge). Although some bars claim they have 100 female employees
