Chapter 2
Welcome to Bang Cock!
While it's true many Thai dishes are hot and spicy, it's certainly not the case with all dishes. If you order your meal and tell the waiter, "Mai ow pet, (I don't want it spicy)", your dish will be tame and mild. Remember, what makes the dish spicy is the tiny red and green chile peppers. So if you see those mixed in with your meal, separate them carefully and you'll escape the fiery heat.

Here's a sample of what I order when I eat lunch or dinner at the Nana coffee shop:

1. Start off with their delicious Banana milk shake or fresh squeezed orange juice.

2. Pad Thai. Thai style noodles with shrimp (or chicken if you prefer). This is the most popular Thai dish. It usually includes a side dish of green onions, sliced lime, and bean sprouts, all of which are to be mixed in with the noodles. About $2.50. Fairly large portion,
Entrance to the Ambassador hotel in Bangkok. You will find a variety of fast food restaurants (such as KFC), an ATM exchange booth, and if you go inside the hotel, they still have the delicious lunch buffets at the Cafe Ambassador (photo below). The Ambassador is located on Sukumvit road, opposite Soi 8. Be sure to use the cross bridge when crossing the street.
