Welcome to Adventures
in Chiang Rai. Mac Horn reporting live from the sex capital of the world,
Thailand. At the present time, I've relocated to Chiang Rai, a small town
about 3 hours north of Chiang Mai. You may be wondering what the hell
I'm doing up here rather than banging Thai babes back in South Pattaya
Beach. (For those who've kept track of my whereabouts, I've spent the
last two years, from 2000-2002 living in South Pattaya Beach. Prior to
that, I was living in Angeles City, Philippines, from 1998-2000). Well,
as great as Pattaya is with it's endless array of bar girls (I'd estimate
there are a good 4,000 plus hookers working the bars), the beauty and
serenity of the beach (okay, so the water is still so polluted you can't
swim in it, but it looks nice enough), and all the wonderful amenities
(international restaurants, excellent medical facilities, sports and activities,
not to mention the world's most active nightlife.), the fact is Chiang
Rai offers something unique and special one simply cannot find in the
brothels and whore houses of Thailand. And what is that? On my first trip
to Chiang Rai in 2000, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but there
was something definitely noticeably different about the place. I guess
what first caught my eye was when my partner and I had first arrived at
the Chiang Rai bus terminal. As I looked around, I noticed not a few extremely
cute girls had their eyes on us and as I turned to look back with a smile,
I noticed what appeared to be faces like that of angels from heaven. "Wow!",
I had thought to myself. "Man, these girls are cute!". With
their flush white skin (a turn-on for Thai men), their silky black hair,
pugged nose and slanted eyes, and their extremely slim and well curved
bodies, I felt I had entered a land of the world's most gorgeous Asian
women. Indeed As Dexter and I had cruised the city for the few days we
were in town (at the time we were working on our new travel videos to
Northern Thailand), I could not believe the number of sweet and adorable
faces I kept running into. Now of course, you get just as much, if not
more, attention and friendliness from the bar girls in Pattaya as well,
but the Chiang Rai girls had something noticeable different, a gleam if
you will, that could not be compared with the ladies of the night. What
was that gleam? It was the look of purity and innocence. Yes, folks, we're
talking virgins! And this whole town seemed to be surrounded by them.
Virgins, hmm! Probably one of the most difficult things for a "falang"
(i.e., a Westerner traveling to Thailand) to distinguish is that of a
prostitute and virgin. I know when I first came to Thailand, I couldn't
tell the difference between the two. Actually, it wasn't until I got out
of the red light districts of Thailand and took my first trip to Vietnam
(back in 1992) that I really became aware of the noticeable difference
between that of a bar girl and virgin. At the time, my Vietnamese guide
was helping me find a virgin woman to marry. One of the things he really
impressed upon me was the ability to recognize and distinguish a virgin
from a hooker. After a while it became quite clear who was who and which
was which. After learning to recognize it, it was, in effect, as easy
as telling the difference between a puppy dog and a worn out canine that
was about to kick the bucket. Or to use another crude analogy, contrasting
virgins and hookers was like comparing a brand spanking new toilet you'd
find on display in a luxurious department store with that of a used and
worn out seat somewhere in a lone gas station, still contaminated from
the last 1,000 plus fat asses that took a shit on it. So what really is
the difference between a virgin and hooker? How can you tell one from
the other? In a nutshell, the virgin girl, while not necessarily younger
than a hooker, carries about her a purity and innocence that simply cannot
be duplicated by the bar girls. How do you recognize that feature? Probably
the most distinguishing feature is in the eyes: virgins (or at least girls
who've had very little sexual experience) carry an aura, if you will,
actually a gleam that somehow gets lost once she begins spreading her
legs, especially for money. Such a gleam or look of innocence, to say
the least, is incredibly attractive. Girls who carry that aura have a
look of beauty that is simply unmatched by those who have chosen to work
a carry in the sex industry and thus become hardened and tough. While
some of you I know prefer the sleazy and hardened look, the fact is once
you get a taste of virgin girls, it's hard to go back. Of course I understand
not everyone is into virgin pussy. With that in mind, I certainly can
say Chiang Rai is not for everyone. If you are coming to Thailand on any
time of real pussy excursion, I would say not to waste your time coming
up here (stay in Bangkok or Pattaya where sexual heaven awaits you!).
Indeed, this town is quite small, has little to offer in the way of tourism
(there's almost nothing in the way of restaurants, shopping, activities,
and so on) and the night life, simply put, sucks. Outside of the sleazy
brothels where they say the girls are all infected with HIV, you will
find yourself crawling the walls for places to go on your pussy hunt.
About all you will find up here is a small cluster of bars on Jetyod street
(behind the Wangcome hotel), the most popular being Phatphong (not to
be confused with Patpong in Bangkok). The bars are all lined up, back
to back from each other and open from 8 p.m. till 1 a.m. Here is a list
for your reference.
1. Manorom

2. Bar Phatphong.
3. Butterfly bar.
4. Parichat.
5. Snake a Go Go.
6. Mars.
7. Lobo.

None of these
bars can be compared to what you will find in the Go Go bars of Bangkok
(such as the Nana Complex), Pattaya or Phuket. While some of the girls
are sweet and cute, the fact is there are just not enough of them. (Compare
Soi 8 in Pattaya where you have over 50 bars and a good 500 girls; here
in Chiang Rai you'll be lucky to find 4-5 bars and 15-20 girls). Okay,
so what are the bars like anyway in Chiang Rai. At Phatphong, you will
find only a handful of Go Go girls dancing on stage (Mars had only 3 girls
on stage the other night and 3 other hanging outside). While depending
on your taste, you may be impressed with the look of some of them, for
me I could not yet find even one that looked good enough to take home
for the evening. I think that alone is enough to give you an idea of what's
up here, well, in terms of night life and pussy hunting, anyway. Probably
the only good news about Phatphong is the prices for drinks, ladies drinks.
For example, in Mars bar I ordered a soda water (25 baht) and bought a
dancer a drink (65). Had I taken this one girl for the night, it would
have cost me 400 baht for the bar fine and for her, 1,000 baht for short
time (some girls wanted 1,500-2,000 for short time). Thus you can find
cheaper prices up here, but with the limited selection, I doubt that would
warrant a visit. But aren't there also outdoor beer bars out here as well?
On the same street as Phatphong, about a three minute walk away, you will
find a very small cluster of outdoor beer bars (about four of them, actually).
If you face the front of the Wangcome hotel, you turn left on Jetyod to
get to the beer bars, right to get to Phatphong) Of these very small bars,
only Nancy bar had any women worth mentioning. Actually, two of the bar
girls at Nancy's, one named Pim and another named Fai were extremely cute.
I went short time with Fai three times, costing me 300 baht for the bar
fine and 1,000 baht for the tip. Actually, Fai wanted 2,000 baht (greedy
little thing!), but I talked her down to 1,000. She was worth it as she
was adorable, but outside of her, I found little to replace. To make matters
worse, two other semi cute girls at the bar next to Nancy's bar refused
to go bar fine at all! I guess making money is not the name of the game
among the entire bar girls up here. Well, things are not completely hopeless
up here. Besides Phatpong and the small cluster of beer bars on Jetyod
street, in vicinity of the Wangcome hotel (i.e., the two alleys on which
the hotel is situated), you will find a cluster of traditional Thai massage
parlors. In effect, these are not sex parlors. The massage is non sexual,
at the rate of 200 baht per two hours (300 baht for two hours if you wish
to have the massage in your hotel). While most of the girls are either
too old and ugly to screw, a few of them are somewhat decent and will
drop their panties back in your hotel room (you can also get a hand job
from most of the girls if you take the 300 baht oil massage). If you do
take one back and screw her or get a blow job, expect to pay an additional
tip of 1,000 baht (500 if she just gives you a hand job or sucks only).
Actually, I recently banged one of the cuter massage parlor girls and
she turned out to be a very pleasant screw. She kissed well, responded
with a lot of affection, did not complain about the fact that I kept pounding
her for over an hour (I guess I'm getting old and it's harder to cum!).
While her body was not the greatest, she was still enjoyable to be with.
Well, I'm sure after reading this, you're not exactly thrilled about coming
to Chiang Rai. And you're probably still wondering what the hell I'm doing
up here. Given the fact that the night life is so limited, why bother?
The answer is I'm exploring the opportunity of screwing non-bar girls
and also investigating the potential of finding a virgin wife. While I
figure most, if not all of you are more interested in what Thailand has
to offer in the way of sex, more sex and nothing but sex, I'd imagine
there are those of you who wish to get away from the bar scene and get
into a more serious relationship. If so, then Chiang Rai offers some magical
opportunities. However, such opportunities have their complications. First,
if you wish to find yourself a wife and want to stay clear of the bar
girls, then this is a fantastic place to come. It's fantastic because
the number of extremely fresh and adorable women appears to be endless.
However, to meet these baby dolls, you must be well versed in conversational
Thai. If you cannot speak Thai or at least carry on at a basic conversational
level, you simply will not be able to communicate and date any of the
girls here. Almost none of them speak a word of English and you will draw
only blank stares if you can't communicate in their language. Second,
if you are looking for a more serious relationship with a non bar girl,
then again this is a fantastic place to do your hunting. However, in order
to have success in pursuing the opposite virgin sex, you must not only
speak Thai, but you must have the luxury of time in your favor. To both
meet and date these women takes time. If you think you can just come up
here on a one to two week visit and come home with a wife, well, you're
living in dreamland. To be successful, you must have at least a few months
or more to work with. The reason is pursuing and dating true virgin girls
(or those close enough to it) for marriage is an ongoing process. While
a bar girl (or one wishing to become one) will hop in the sack with just
about any guy the first night she meets him, you'll find exactly the opposite
among the virgins or those pretending to be so. To catch one, you must
go through a process of dating and courting her. And that takes a lot
of time, energy and yes, money (you didn't think you were going to get
it for free, did you?).
While all
this may sound frustrating and basically a waste of time, the fact is
some guys prefer the challenge and reward that goes with chasing the fairer
sex. Opposite Pattaya where it's like fishing in a barrel, up here you
have to work your ass off. So I guess it's up to you. If you want easy
and inexpensive sex, stay in the red light districts of Pattaya, Patong
(Phuket) or Bangkok. If you want a true virgin or non bar girl that you
have to work for to get, then this is a great place to spend your time.
In the end, I guess you can say you get what you put into it. If you want
nothing more than a woman who is dropping her panties for every guy who
whips out his wallet, then that is what you will find among the bar girls
of Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and other sex destinations. If either just
playing the field or settling with used merchandise is good enough for
you, then don't waste your time in Chiang Rai. Simply hit the beer bars
of Pattaya and you will have everything at your doorstep. However, if
you are more of the sportsman’s type that is willing to take chances
and work hard to get that catch of the day, then pack your bags and come
on up! The water is cold but once you dive in, the rewards are heavenly.
