| 1 Peso: The
Philippine currency. The Peso is unsteady and throughout 1999, fluctuated
between 37 and 39 pesos per US dollar. 2 Cherry: virgin, a person (male or female) who has not yet experienced sexual intercourse (the insertion of a penis into her vagina). 3 Boom Boom: A very commonly used phrase among the bar girls for sexual intercourse. "Go back to my room and boom, boom, boom." 4 Bar Fine: A price paid to the bar to allow a bar girl to immediately leave the bar and go spend the night with the customer. Sex is assumed, but not guaranteed. 5 Short Time: In the short-time hotels, you rent a room for three hours. In the short-time brothels, an hour or so of sex. This is the opposite of bar fine, which is "long time" or all night. 6 Butterfly: A derogatory term used by the bar girls to describe a person who likes to have sex with many partners. If your girlfriend thinks you are having sex with another girl, she will accuse you of being a butterfly. Oddly, if you tell her she's also a butterfly since she sleeps with many customers, she'll justify her actions on the grounds that, "It's my job." 7 Mamasan: A female bar manager who pimps out the bar girls and is responsible for keeping good relations with the customers. The mamasan makes around 150 pesos a day (depending on the bar) and usually gets about a 50-peso commission for each girl who is bar-fined. 8 Ladies' drink. Usually costs about $2.40 and allows a bar girl to sit with the customer to chat and cuddle. Most bars will not let the girls sit with a customer unless he buys her a ladies' drink. |
