New Years Eve
With Linda

The next day I contacted this lady who was recommended to me by a friend in the states. He told me he found out about her on the Internet and that she worked for a travel agency and also helped people fill out their immigration forms. Not only that but helped people get their passports and assist them with their immigration process. She lived right there in Olongapo, which made it very convenient. She was very nice and helped Linda and I a lot but we had a few problems with her, which made me decide not to recommend her to anyone at the present time. All in all, she did an o.k. job for me.

After making the final arrangements with the immigration assistant to help Linda with her passport and immigration paperwork, I knew my work was done here. All I had to do now was go home and send my fiancée visa papers to my local INS office. My courier flight was scheduled to leave the next day so I made plans to go to Manila and stay over night there. I had called up the courier company, "Halbart Express" a few days prior to inform them that I will be at the Swagman Hotel in Manila so that they can drop my ticket off there. (Which is the procedure they ask you to do) When I got to the Swagman that night my tickets were not at the hotel. I tried calling the Halbart Express office in Manila but it was late and the office was closed.
My flight was scheduled to leave 8:00 a.m. on Northwest Airlines the very next day. I got to Manila Airport at 5:30 a.m. the next day and waited in the area that it said to wait in the Halbart Express instruction sheet. There was another courier company employee who worked for IBC Couriers, waiting in the same area I was waiting. He was there to give return plane tickets to HIS scheduled courier person. I asked him if he knew where the Halbart Express guy was that was supposed to meet me at the airport.

He told me that Halbart Express doesn't show up sometimes to meet the couriers and that I should go into the ticket area and tell the Northwest Airlines ticket personnel my problem. It was now 7:30 a.m. and my flight was going to depart in thirty minutes. The Halbart guy never showed up, so I went up to the Northwest ticket counter and told them what was happening. Not only did one of the regular ticket clerks tell me that this happens a lot with Halbart, but one of the supervisors told me the same thing as well. Northwest suggested to me that I go to the Halbart Courier office and get my tickets from them. My plane had already taken off and I figured I had no other choice, except pay for a one-way ticket back home on Northwest, which would have run me about $700 for a last minute booking. I tried calling the Halbart office but they still didn't answer the phone.
