THE "60 MINUTES" Interview with ED BRADLEY, THE REAL STORY!
The following morning would be Mac's big day. We were to show up at CBS in New York around 9:00 a.m. The night before, both of us tried to come up with a "game plan" on what we thought Ed Bradley was going to ask Mac. It didn't matter how much Mac rehearsed of what he was going to say on television. It turned out that whatever questions they were to ask him, the infamous 60Minute editing room would have their turn in making everything look and sound the way THEY wanted it to be. 60 Minutes must have planned the show months in advance and knew exactly how they were gonna to handle THEIR show. Ed Bradley and the crew of 60 Minutes had gone to Thailand months in advance to shoot footage for the show Mac was to be sacrificed on.

They must have spent tons of money to send their entire crew to Southeast Asia. We now know to this day that a lot was riding on getting Mac to appear on their show after finding out how much time and money they put into all of this.
HOW MAC WAS CONTACTED BY 60 MINUTES

Here's the way it all came about. John Wells called Mac pretending to be some guy interested in taking Mac's tour. He didn't identify himself as the producer of 60 Minutes television show. He never said exactly how he found Mac, but the implication was through his website on the Internet (which prompted him to call or write and get his brochure). When Wells called, he said he wanted to take Mac's tour. He sounded very strange on the phone, Mac recalls, because most guys inquire a bit more before committing themselves. Wells just said something like, " I want to take your tour. Where do I send the check and how much?"

Mac told him there was a $150 deposit to set the tour up. Wells sent the check and Mac proceeded to contact his guide Yod, Yip's sister. (You remember Yip. She was the girl I saw in Mac's apartment one day with Mac's friend Dirk)
Mac couldn't get in touch with her and had to call Wells back to cancel the tour (Mac told him the truth, namely, his guide quit on him and he had no replacement.) and would promptly refund his money.
