| MY FIRST FILIPINA WIFE ARRIVES IN AMERICA |

I remember the day I went to the Los Angeles International Airport to pick up Rowena. It was March 18, 1995. I got there too early and had to wait about an hour for her to come walking through the security door. She was worn out from the flight and when we got back to my house, she passed out and slept for a couple of hours. (Of course we eventually greeted each other in ways only dogs in heat could understand.)
Without going through a lot of boring, personal detail about our marriage, and our sex life, the first two years was not exactly a bed of roses. We both did not get along with each other for a number of reasons. First off, being that Rowena was 17 years younger than I made it difficult to communicate with each other. Having been brought up in a different culture and coming from an entirely different environment were also major factors.

We had few things in common which was also due to the age difference. I felt like I was with my daughter sometimes, especially when I took her to Disneyland for her first time. We were both pissed off at each other as you can see in the picture to the right.
It wasn't her fault. She was just acting her age. She was a normal, 20-year-old girl who, for the first time was away from her family, and all of her friends. Between missing THEM and having all the problems WE had, made it impossible for us to enjoy each other. As far as the age difference, it didn't bother HER, it bothered ME! I needed to be with someone who was mature and understood a man of my age. (Judging from the picture above, it's pretty clear who the mature adult was in this marriage.
