Philippines Visit #2:
Choosing My First Wife

I knew if I did that, it would only leave her with one hand. I had to convince Rowena's parents to let me marry their entire daughter. I sure had my work cut out for me when I arrived in the Province. (Very rural with no electricity) The next day I was off to see "THE WIZARD", I mean her parents. You know, sometimes I DID feel like I was in the land of OZ. Her parents lived in the province called Bulacan.

Bulacan is about a two-hour bus and Jeepney ride from Manila. The "Province" is one the most interesting experiences you'll ever encounter during your visit to the Philippines. There are many provinces throughout the P.I. Most of them are best described as a combination of going camping in the wilderness, while being in Leavenworth State Prison.

Being in the province has that "Little House on the Prairie" feel to it, where everybody that lives here is friendly and helpful. Except Michael Landon is played by a short, dark Filipino guy who runs the Tuesday and Saturday night cock fighting contests.
To make this long story shorter, I asked Rowena's mom and dad if I could marry their daughter, and of course they said yes. We all celebrated by drinking a couple cases of San Miguel, the Philippines national beer, and brought in some chicken and hot dogs, the Philippines national food. (Just kidding, it's really puppy)
Rowena let me play with her pet monkey. It was REALLY hot that day and I remember telling Rowena to take her monkey out of the sun." It's not good to play with your monkey, especially if it's really hot" I told her. While I was playing with it, the monkey took a bite out of one of my fingers and drew blood. Rowena got angry at the monkey and wanted to spank it for biting me.
